O godny spoczynek
(Gazeta krakowska/Gazeta nowosadecka, 26 October 2002)

Summary:
Cemetery in Florynka Saved

After last year’s flood damaged the scarp on which an old cemetery is located in the village of Florynka and after water began to wash out bones, the Union of Lemkos in Poland launched a campaign to save the cemetery. One of the problems was the lack of appropriate funds on the lowest administrative level. This issue was resolved when county and voivodeship level authorities provided 60,000 złoty (about $15,000) each. The next step was to obtain a permit to undertake strengthening construction on the scarp that the cemetery is located on because it is private property. During the construction work the bones washed out by water were collected and placed in one part of the cemetery. Now further work needs to be done, including fencing and cleaning. The head of Nowy Sącz County declared that his administration would team up with the voivodeship-level administration to buy the property.
