Summary:
The Society for the Advancement of Children, Teenagers and Handicaped People „Kunkowa” [Stowarzyszenie na Rzecz Dzieci, Młodzieży i Osób Niepełnosprawnych „Kunkowa”] was among 31 receipients of 2002 prestigious Pro Publico Bono Award given to the best civil initiative [Najlepsza Inicjatywa Obywatelska Pro Publico Bono]. Ten thousand złoty (some $2,500) will help to build a toilet in a tiny elementary/kindergarten school in Kunkowa that helps to educate respectively 5 and 2 children. Since Kunkowa has a mixed Polish and Lemko population one of the major trends in the activity of the society is to educate members of both groups about each other.
