МИ НЄ МАМЕ ПЕРСПЕКТИВУ БЕЗ СОТРУДЗОВАНЯ
(Ruske Slovo, 7 June 2002)

Summary:
Ruske Slovo interviewed Boris Hraljik, National Minority Representative in the Croatian parliament. Hraljik represents the Rusyn, Ukrianian, Austrian, German and Jewish communities, and is also the head of the parliamentary sub-committee for human and minority rights.

Amendments to the Contitutional Law on the Rights of Minorities are one of the sub-committee’s most pressing issues. According to Hraljik, however, the biggest issue is not the deficiencies in the law itself, but in its enactment on the local level.

One of the innovations he feels is necessary to introduce is minority self-administration, along the lines of what is being done in Serbia, and what is already in place in Hungary. And even though the representation Croatian minorities have in parliament is a major feature not present in most other countries in the region, he would like to see the number of representatives increased.
