RUSYN NEWS ARCHIVE - 2002

ОБЄДИНЬОВАЦ, АКТИВОВАЦ И ПОВЯЗОВАЦ МЛАДИХ
(Ruske Slovo, 4 October 2002)

Summary:
A new youth organization, Pact Ruthenorum, was founded by a group of young people on 28 September in Ruski Kerestur. The group is non-partisan, meaning it supports neither a pro-Rusyn or pro-Ukrainian orientation in its activities. It has set for itself the goals of uniting young Rusyns; including them in Rusyn public, cultural and national life; and stimulating multiculturalism by collaborating with the organizations of other national groups.

The group is particularly interested in engaging those Rusyns who live in parts of Yugoslavia where there are not Rusyn organizations, such as Belgrade, Srimska Mitrovica and Orahovo. They plan on being active in media, through the magazines MAK and Dzvoni as well as through a youth program on television.

Pact Ruthenorum’s first event will be an evening dedicated to youth creativity at the Kosteljnikova Ješen’ festival on 18 October.

The founding meeting of Pact Ruthenorum was held at the Ruski Kerestur Dom Kulture. The organization’s statute was adopted, and Ana Marija Rehak, a political science student from Belgrade, was elected president. She was one of the original initators of the organization, along with Vladimir Bodjanec, Monika Budinski and Nataša Rehak.
