The Issue of Lemko Cemeteries Revisited

A Greek Catholic delegation led by the Metropolitan Ivan Martyniak has just visited Gorlice County where it met with local authorities. One of the subjects discussed was the fate of old cemeteries in both non-existing Lemko villages, as well as those inhabited by Poles only or mixed Polish and Lemko populations. It was agreed that before these treasures of art can be renovated a detailed inventory has to be created. In order to speed up the process a commission consisting of representatives of both local authorities and the Greek Catholic Church will be created.
